Toyota, Intel set up a "big data" alliance for vehicles
According to foreign media reports, Toyota said on Thursday that Toyota will form an alliance with Intel, Denso and some technology and automobile companies to jointly develop a big data ecosystem for intelligent networked vehicles in the future.
Swiss telecom equipment maker Ericsson, Japanese auto parts supplier Denso and telecom operator NTT DoCoMo Inc. also joined the alliance, called the Automotive Edge Computing Consortium. , AECC).
Toyota said in a statement that the goal of the alliance is to use data on the basis of cloud computing to provide support for emerging services such as intelligent driving, real-time maps and driver assistance.
In view of the fact that cars are equipped with more and more functions, from lane keeping to automatic driving, the amount of data information that cars need to use and produce is constantly increasing. Toyota expects monthly data traffic between cars and the cloud to reach 10 exabytes by 2025, almost 10,000 times the current rate. The day before, Intel announced that it will launch a 100 self-driving car project on the road, and it is likely to rely on the alliance's cloud infrastructure in the future.
