The role of the shock absorber protection kit
Dust cover boots are also called bellows. Shock absorber dust cover boots and strut dust cover boots fit over your shock absorbers and struts within the coil spring. Their main job is to protect your shock absorber and struts from dirt and contaminants.
If unprotected, dirt and contaminants can lead to your shock leaking and wear and tear. Your front left and right dust cover boot are always the same, as are your rear left and right dust cover boots. However, the front set and the rear set are different.
Shock absorber and strut bumpers (or ‘bump stops’) sit below the shock absorber dust cover boot. They assist in improving the ride in your car by absorbing the shock and protecting your vehicle’s suspension when it is being compressed completely.
Most older generations cars use bump stops made from rubber. Shock absorber bumpers made from micro cellular polyurethane foam are becoming increasingly popular as they can compress further than traditional rubber bumpers, without creating an abrupt change in spring rate.
Another form of bumper or bump stop are leaf spring bumpers and spring bumpers. Leaf spring bumpers sit on top of the leaf springs used in the rear of heavy load bearing vehicles such as pickup’s and trucks. Spring bumpers sit on top of the control arm and sub-assembly suspension system.
Essentially, they both perform the same function as shock bumper, except that they do it for the leaf spring and control arm instead. Due to the incredibly heavy loads placed on leaf springs, it is important to protect them when bottoming out with the bumper.
As with all our parts, FANGCHEN uses high quality materials such as natural rubber and high grade steel to manufacture premium quality dust cover boots and bumpers that isolate NVH and protect your suspension system, to support great driving comfort and vehicle safety.
